The first stop is exploring the Rio Frio Cave and then the Rio On Pools, here guest will enjoy a picnic lunch with scenic view of natural pools and waterfalls that run over smooth granite rocks which is perfect for relaxing and water massages.
The Rio Frio Cave is located in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. It was used as a sacred burial site for the ancient Maya. It measures more than 65 feet high and is a popular natural attraction known for its enormous front entry. It is a quarter mile filled with natural wonders, inside the cave are giant stalactite, enormous coloured boulders, stone chandeliers, water pools and waterfalls. This popular destination can be toured by individuals of different ages especially on a hot day.
The Rio on Pools is located 15 miles off the Western Highway from the Santa Elena Town in the Mountain Pine Ridge and is surrounded by 300 square miles of Caribbean Pine and forest reserve. It is famous for its fresh-water pools and appealing waterfalls which makes it the perfect picnic location with a beautiful view of the area from the riverbank. This natural beauty is easily accessible and can be enjoyed by anyone, for the different sizes and depths of the pools. This tour is a day filled with sunbathing, water massages, relaxation and swimming at a natural spa.
Big Rock Falls is a hidden gem located in the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve flowing over the Privassion Creek. It is a large cenote surrounded by big rocks and a small pool at the bottom. It takes about 1 ½ hr from San Ignacio Town to the 150 FT waterfall. Upon reaching, there is a trail of about 300 yards and 130 FT down to meet the valley. You will be welcomed by the roar of the cascading waterfall and cool mist and captivated by this secret paradise natural beauty.
We end the day touring the hidden gem, Big Rock Falls which is famous for its captivating beauty of 150 FT waterfall located on the Privassion Creek. Here both adventure seekers and relaxation lovers get to enjoy a beautiful cenote. You can either swim in the clear deep pool or plunge yourself from the big rocks into the water.
