Xunantunich Horse Back Riding

Background Information

Whether you’re a pro or novice, horseback riding to Xunantunich is one of the most popular way to enjoy scenic views and explore the Mayan Temple.

You will be pick you up at 8:00am and depart to Hanna Stables a family owned horseback riding farm with over 45 horses. On your arrival, you will be greeted by the guide whom will assist you to mount your horses to depart. The route to the Mayan temple includes a well-maintained trail through a large private farm and views of the river bank of San Jose Succotz. Upon arriving Xunantunich you will cross the Mopan River on a hand-operated cable ferry which will lead you to your destination. When you arrive, your adventure continues. Visiting this impressive and ancient archeological Maya site ranked among one of the top ten places to visit in Belize.

The name Xunantunich is derived from the Yucatec Language meaning “Stone Woman”. It boasts a number of Plazas, including the dominant “El Castillo” that rises 130ft and consist of a monumental plaster frieze with sky frames, three dimensional seated figures flanked by leaf like elements terminating in knots, a Sacbe, and a Maya ball court among others.

The tour ends touring this magnificent site.  Souvenir can be purchase from locals on site before making departing to your hotel.
