Background Information

The tour starts from San Ignacio Town as we embark on our trek from low flat land to beautiful hills you will get to see the Maya Mountains from a distance and scenic views of the tropical jungle.

The drive takes approximately 30 minutes to arrive at the hand crank ferry which leads us to the Xunantunich Mayan Site. Once, we arrive to the ferry we will be hand cranked across the beautiful green Mopan river which we then drive for another 5 minutes to our destination.

Once we arrive to the archaeological reserve of Xunantunich the guide will take us to explore the ancient wonders of the site. We will have the opportunity to climb the El Castillo temple which is approximately 130 feet tall. From here we will be able to see Guatemala one of the neighbouring countries with Belize. As we trek along the site which is surrounded by jungle, we might run into some wildlife and get glimpse of monkeys, birds, spiders and much more.

After we finish the site tour, we will enjoy some seasonal fruits and refreshments and then make our way back to Belize city.
